character (Casino)

How was Robert De Niro's character represented in the film 'Casino' ?
The first shot, which is a tracking shot reveals a very, well dressed man. He is wearing a very bright pink suit, which could state that he is very wealthy and that the film is set in the 70's or 80's. He is holding a cigar which could also represent his wealth and status. As the camera reverse zooms out slightly, it reveals a Casino, which could suggest that he is a casino owner and therefore has wealth.
A narrative voice over is used for the character, "When you love someone, there is no other way, you got to give'm the keys to everything you own...otherwise, what's the point"? This piece of dialogue suggests that maybe he is an easy going man who respects the person he loves. The car exploding, could suggest that he isnt a liked man and has many enemies. As the car explodes, choral music kicks in, this creates a tense and atmospheric vibe and draws in the audience.
De Neniro's voice, Italian American, is a stereotype of a gangster. This hints at the films genre and theme. Settings like Vegas, represents gambling, crime and action. This fits in with the character, him being a casino owner could promote these qualities.
